Why it's an Issue

The offsides ruling in hockey has been historically controversial. The most recent Stanley Cup brought in over 1 million views, and had a total of 14 offsides calls, 5 of which were upheld and 9 were overturned. All of these created a stoppage of play, slowing the pace of the game, adding to growing tensions, and taking away from the viewing experience. Some calls even changed the outcome of the games, with goals being detracted and momentum shifting instantaneously.
